Birdman Talks Cash Money’s Rock Experimentation, Preps Priceless 2 For Spring Release

Cash Money Records co-founder Birdman has addressed the company’s move into more rock-geared music and announced plans to release a Priceless 2 album this spring.

Besides Lil Wayne’s Rebirth experimental rock album, Baby said Kevin Rudolph represents the label’s missing element.

“We’ve been trying to expand into rock for a long time,” Baby said in an interview. “It just never cracked. We didn’t have the system to pull it off. But with Kevin, Republic gave him a great window to do what he wanted to do. The new music is hot. We are going into all types of music from Kevin and Drake to Jay Sean. I believe in the music.”

Last October, Baby said Cash Money represents more than just rap music.

“We still feel like we got a long way to go man,” Baby said in an interview. “His music and his heights are unlimited. We do pop, rock, rap, everything, so when you catering to our nationalities, our songs, it’s not gonna be just one urban record. You gotta do pop records, cross over records.”

Writing via Twitter, Birdman said his next album would be out in March.

“REBIRTH.FEB 2,” he wrote Friday (January morning. “YM CMB BILLIONAIRE MIND. CASHMONEYMILLIONAIRES.PRICELESS 2 COMIN IN MARCH SHE ON FIRE VIDEO .ABEAST REBIRTH FEB 2 YM CMB 5STAR BILLIONAIRE MINDS PRICELESS 2 COMIN IN MARCH.”

Last year’s Priceless debuted on the charts at number 29.
