Pusha T and Malice have addressed the possible Clipse diss that appears on Jay-Z's Blueprint III track "Thank You".
Despite a reference to "clips" and "casket," Pusha T said he does not believe Jay has any reason to want to diss them.
"People have been asking me about that," Pusha T explained in an interview. "I don't know. I don't know man. Jay-Z 'has' to like The Clipse. He raps. He's a rapper, he has to like The Clipse. Come on, he's heard us before. He knows we're good." (VIBE)
Malice added that he also could not imagine Hov wanting to take shots at him.
"I hate to think that, I mean, really we just The Clipse," Malice added. "You know, we ain't sold millions and millions of records so why would anybody do that?" (VIBE)
On the track, Jay is heard making numerous references.
"Let us save you some trouble son/What size suit you is?/This way after the Ruger shoots through a few clips/You can lay in your casket just as you is/We appreciate the target practices/We'll be sure to send flower baskets kid..." ("Thank-You")
Pusha recently spoke with SOHH about Rick Rubin's efforts on their Til The Casket Drops album.
"We were just joking about saying he lied to us," Pusha explained. "We drove down to Malibu and Rick is a cool guy, amazing dude. He gave us all the insight in the world. He had a big influence on us and some of the records we kept and some of the records that we got rid of off the album. He sorta, like, solidified our stance in making this album. Actually, he came in and heard everything. We went to him and he heard everything. Outside of that he was just, you know, like 'Listen man, just make sure you love it. Like if you don't love it, don't do it, if you don't love everything. Anything you don't love, do not do, do not put on that album.' He was like 'I don't care, I don't care, I don't care about any of that. If you don't love it, don't do it.'" (SOHH)
